Lake County, Indiana Strategic Prevention Framework
The Lake County SPF (Strategic Prevention Framework) employs proven community level change strategies for reducing and preventing underage drinking, illicit drugs use, and prescription drug abuse through the implementation of tested and effective programs and policies. The public health approach to preventitive services and behavioral issues that negatively affect the community includes the following:
- Al’s Pals: an evidence-based program with youth ages 3-5 that work to enhance self-efficacy skills, being implemented by Head Start
- Too Good for Drugs: an evidence-based program being implemented in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Indiana
- College Alcohol Abuse Prevention: a partnership with local colleges and universities to run positive message campaigns to combat alcohol abuse
- Team Awareness: through a partnership with Work Driven Strategies, this stress management evidence-based program is implemented in business and organization
